Barney's hope for 'fur-ever' home after 400 days in Evesham shelter

A DOG has spent more than 400 days at a shelter in Evesham but staff are hopeful 2024 will be his adoption year.

Barney, a six-year-old crossbreed, has been with Evesham Dogs Trust since December 2022.

He is one of the shelter’s ‘underdogs’ – four-legged friends who have been in shelters for six months or more.

These dogs can have extra requirements for a new home, may require extra training, or ongoing veterinary treatment. In some cases, they are simply overlooked.

Barney is in need of a family with older children said Chris Slight, the shelter’s rehoming centre manager.

He also needs to be the sole pet in the home and be walked in quieter areas due to his reactivity to other animals.

Chris added Barney has recently spent time in a foster home and established a positive history within a home environment.

He said:

“In our care, Barney has shown resilience and a positive response to training. He has so much love to give, and we’re excited to find him the forever family he truly deserves.”

“We are confident that, with the right family, his progress in a secure home environment will showcase his potential as an affectionate and loyal companion.”

Those interested in adopting Barney are asked to contact Dogs Trust Evesham.
