UNDER cloudy skies Evesham came together yesterday to commemorate Remembrance Sunday with a service at All Saints Church preceded by a wreath-laying ceremony at the war memorial in Abbey Park.
A parade commanded by Ian Bostock, of Evesham and District Royal British Legion, made its way down High Street headed by Avonbank Brass Band.
Among the dignitaries who attended were the Deputy Lord Lieutenant for Worcestershire, Nicholas Wentworth-Stanley, chair of Wychavon District Council, Councillor Mark Goodge along with the mayor and deputy mayor of Evesham, Councillors John Clatworthy and Bill Kimberley.

Also present were the eleven other town councillors.
Members of the Evesham & District British Legion, and Evesham branch of the Royal Air Force Association also attended.
The oldest person to attend was 104-year-old former RAF Second World War veteran Jeff Brereton, who laid a wreath on behalf of the RAFA.
Also present were a large number of veterans from all branches of the services, including the Merchant Navy.
They were joined by Scouts, Brownies, Cub and Brownies along with H&W Army Cadets.
Councillor Andrew Dyke representing Nigel Huddleston MP laid a wreath on his behalf.
A total of ten standards were on display.
Stephen Lane from Avonbank Brass Band led the parade and played the last post and reveille. He also provided music to hymns and the National Anthem in the Church.
The presiding minister was the Revd Dr Prajna Pal-Lad, assistant curate at All Saints and the mayor’s chaplain Julie Westlake read the address in the Church.
At the end of the church service, the parade re-formed outside St Lawrence’s Church and proceeded into the Market Square where it was dismissed.
