Evesham family's fundraising efforts top £40K

AN EVESHAM family who have dedicated themselves to fundraising for two indispensable charities has reached an incredible £40K.

Mandy and Bryan Edwards began raising money for Birmingham Children’s Hospital (BCH) and Cotswold Riding for the Disabled (Cotswold RDA) more than 20 years ago because of the support given to their daughter Bethan.

The two charities are very special to the Edwardses as Bethan suffers from hypoplastic left heart syndrome, a serious heart condition suffered by around one in 4,000 babies.

BCH performed lifesaving open heart surgery on Bethan when she was just three days old, followed by three more operations before she was six.

Now 21, Bethan spends a lot of her time either riding or volunteering at Cotswold RDA, headquartered at Cheltenham racecourse.

Mandy raises funds through making and selling crafts while Bryan sells donated plants to Vale residents.

The family’s annual Christmas charity craft fair at Leedons Park, Childswickham last November made more than £1,900 and took the total tally since 2004 past the momentous milestone.

“We are over the moon for the generosity of Vale residents. My family and I plan to continue our fund-raising efforts for many years to come,” said Mandy.

The family recently gave a cheque for £2,100 to Cotswold RDA and sent the same amount to BCH.
