CREATIVE members of Evesham Operatic and Dramatic Society (EODS) scooped a top award from the National Operatic and Dramatic Association (NODA) for its last show staged at the Evesham Arts Centre.
EODS were awarded Best Musical in 2016 for the Worcestershire West District, for its November 2016 production of Chess, beating off competition from other finalists based in Redditch and Bromsgrove.
It’s the second year in a row the society has been awarded the Best Musical prize, following success in 2016 with its production “The Music In Me”.
The awards ceremony, which was held in Stourbridge on Sunday (April 23), also featured a win from Pershore based group PODS, for Best Panto 2016.
Chess Director and EODS Treasurer Greg Pearson, who was at the awards to collect the prize on behalf of the group, said “We are delighted with the win, which recognises a huge amount of hard work and talent from our Society.
“We all give a huge amount of time and effort to ensure our shows are as professional as possible and it’s great to be recognised in such a public way.
“We can only survive with the support of the Evesham public, so we hope they continue to come and see us in the future and that this win helps us to recruit new members”
EODS are due to stage their next production ‘Brassed Off’ at Evesham Arts Centre from May 18 to 20 in association with Bretforton Silver Band.

Auditions for EODS next musical production, 9 to 5 the Dolly Parton Musical, based on the classic 80s film, will be held in June.
