EVESHAM Boathouse is launching a Christmas fundraiser to raise the final £4,000 needed to help secure the future of the riverside building that has been home to generations of rowers, tennis players, and squash enthusiasts.
Their #BuyTheBoathouseForChristmas campaign, involves club members joining together for a virtual sponsored Race to the North Pole in a number of ways.
Together they will be rowing and logging kilometres on ERGs or out on the water, tracking their steps on the tennis and squash courts and converting them to kilometres to cover the 4,215km distance from Evesham to the North Pole.

With every stroke, step and donation it is hoped that the collective effort will make the last £4,000 needed to secure the future of their much-loved club.
“The Boathouse has been the beating heart of riverside sport in Evesham for generations,” said Simon Edwards, chair of Evesham Rowing Club.
“It’s where friendships are formed, skills are learned, and memories are made, and now we have the chance to make sure it remains here for generations to come.
“We’re asking everyone who loves this community to help us buy it before the end of the year.”
Earlier this year, the club revealed they needed to raise £90,000 to purchase the leasehold of the boathouse and the land it stands on.
The local community and club members past and present rallied around to raise a staggering £86,000, and the club is now within a bow ball of the final total needed.

“This isn’t just about buying a building,” added rowing club Captain Simon North, “it’s about preserving a space where people of all ages come together to play, keep fit and belong.
“Every pound donated brings us closer to securing that future.”
