Evesham climber dies after fall in Scottish Highlands

A CLIMBER who died after a fall in the Cairngorms has been named as 25-year-old Owen Griffiths from Evesham.

He died in hospital on Tuesday (February 21) as a result of serious head injuries.

Police were alerted to the incident in the Coire an t-Sneachda area by members of the public at about 12pm on Tuesday.

He was then airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary by Coastguard helicopter where he sadly died.




A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Mountain Rescue Team personnel who attended to Mr Griffiths are thanked for their assistance.

“Mr Griffiths family will not be issuing a statement and request privacy from the media at this difficult time.”
