Evesham blooms with Japanese influence

Evesham Editorial 30th Apr, 2024   0

AN EVESHAM garden centre is delighted to announce a new partnership with a global cherry blossom project.

The Valley Evesham shopping and garden centre has unveiled the addition of two ‘magnificent’ Japanese Prunus Tai-haku Cheery Trees as part of the ‘esteemed’ Sakura Cherry Tree Project.

The trees are a gift to The Valley to symbolise the beginning of a larger orchard consisting of 20 trees which will be planted by the end of the year.

An event was hosted by The Valley to mark an exchange and celebration between the UK and Japan. The highlight of the day was the visit of minister Yasuyuki Okazaki from the Japanese Embassy, who graced the occasion with his presence.

The day showcased a performance by the Local Stagecoach Performing Arts Evesham, who ‘mesmerised’ the audience with a Japanese-inspired dance.

The Valley also organised Origami Workshops throughout the weekend, engaging visitors of all ages in the art of Japanese paper folding.

In a display of enthusiasm and commemoration, The Valley has unveiled a colossal Sakura Cherry Tree Project logo within its grounds.

This inspiring logo, visible even from satellites orbiting the Earth, reflects our dedication to celebrating our inclusion in this prestigious project with utmost excitement.

A spokesperson for The Valley said: “The Valley is honoured to be part of the Sakura Cherry Tree Project and looks forward to nurturing these beautiful cherry trees, which will not only enhance the The Valley’s natural beauty but also strengthen the bond between the local community and Japan.”
