EVESHAM is becoming the ‘coffee shop capital of the world’ town planners said as they approved Coffee#1’s plans to open a second shop in the town.
The coffee chains hopes of opening a second shop in Evesham, this time at 8-10 Market Place, have moved one step closer after councillors on Evesham Town Council gave the green light to the plans on Monday night.
Wychavon District Council planners will though have the final say on whether or not Coffee#1 can transform the empty unit next to the Outside Inn.
The fifth biggest coffee chain in the UK only opened the doors to their first coffee shop in Evesham at The Valley back in August.
Their plans for a second shop in the town would create four full time and eight part time jobs, according to Coffee#1’s design and access statement.
Coffee#1 is known for its handcrafted coffee and its shops designed with a living room feel with artwork, shelves packed with vintage books and a log-stocked fireplace.
The breakfast menu boasts buttery teacakes, porridge, breakfast baps and savoury croissants to accompany your morning coffee or freshly-squeezed juice.
A selection of soups, wraps and ciabattas are also available for lunch and an array of tea and cakes for the afternoon.
Speaking at the meeting, Coun Jim Bullman said: “I’m sure the whole of Evesham is going to be hyped about another coffee shop opening in the town.”
Coun Michael Elliman added: “Evesham is fast becoming the coffee shop capital of the world.”
Residents have until Thursday, November 23 to comment on the plans.
