FESTIVE charity spa days held by students from Evesham New College has raised £276 for Cancer Research UK as well as providing valuable hands-on experience working with the public.
The events, which offered a range of pampering treatments such as manicures, pedicures, facials, formed an important part of their course assessment in Level 2 and 3 beauty therapy.
Held within a classroom decorated by the 19 students to replicate that of a calming treatment room, a raffle featuring prizes sourced by them helped with the fundraising.
Course manager Tracey Hobson said: “The students were very professional and gained a lot of experience working in a professional salon environment and organising events.
“It was an excellent opportunity for them to practice their skills and work in the community, all while supporting a meaningful cause. It’s important for the students to understand what it will be like when they go out into the working environment.
“The feedback from the clients was amazing. I had messages saying how professional the students were, how lovely the day was and how relaxed they felt.”
Sparkling apple juice and mince pies were served by the students to give the event an elegant and festive feel.
The success of the events helped all involved pass their assessments with high marks.
