EVESHAM Arts Centre is in with a chance of being crowned as the ‘Best Worcestershire Arts/Theatre Venue’ after being shortlisted for the award.

Standing in the way of the Arts Centre winning the title are five other venues from across Worcestershire – but its residents who will determine the winner by voting online for their favourite venue.

Neil Cartwright, from the Arts Centre, told the Observer winning the award would boost Evesham’s image as a ‘place to go for a good night out.’

“We’re all really pleased that Evesham’s arts centre has been selected as a finalist in this year’s What’s On Awards,” Mr Cartwright said.

“It’s a big honour – and good to be up there with all the other great venues, destinations & attractions across the county. A huge thank you to everyone who’s voted for us so far.

“What would it mean if we won? Obviously the arts centre’s volunteers would be seriously chuffed – but more important, having an Evesham venue win would be a boost to our town as a place to go for a good night out.”
