A CARING mum’s bid to get inclusive play equipment for the Crown Meadow was given a boost with a £5,000 donation from Evesham Town Council.
Councillors voted to approve the grant at a meeting last Monday (September 8) and back the No Limits project set up by Lucy Bickerstaff.
The kind-hearted mum of Maple Close began her efforts to raise £10,000 in February and if she reaches the target by next
April, Wychavon District Council will donate a further £10,000.
If the funds are raised, it will mean a disabled swing, a boat swing, a full harness swing and a rotating roundabout suitable for wheelchairs, will be installed at the Crown Meadow play area.
The appeal has already raised £2,500 and has been further enhanced by the grant from the council’s New Homes Bonus fund, cash received by the council for building new homes.
Speaking at the meeting, former mayor Coun Mark Goodge said: “I think this is an excellent example of local residents taking matters into their own hands and getting on with something.
“We should applaud them for it and I am delighted we are able to approve this money.” he added.
A host of fund-raising events are scheduled between now and the end of the year.
