Enjoying a slice of celebration

THREE past chairs of Abbots Morton Village Hall shared the pleasurable duty of cutting the birthday cake at a 20th anniversary party in the hall.

Almost 80 people were at the party including 20 of the first village hall committee and fundraisers who had enabled the hall to be built in February 1998.

Photographs of events during the past two decades were on display and part of the hall was laid out as a cinema to show videos of the opening ceremony 20 years ago and other historical films of the village of Abbots Morton, near Inkberrow.

“We’re proud the legacy they left has been maintained and improved upon so that we have one of the nicest village halls in the county.”said Melanie Clarke, the present Chair of the Abbots Morton village hall committee.

Melanie was joined by the first chair, Catherine Hilton, and a past chair, Sarah Dykes, in cutting the two-tier birthday cake made by a villager, Sue Bunce.

Abbots Morton Parish Council had helped towards building the hall 20 years ago by arranging a loan via the Public Works Loan Board which has now just been paid off, and the council paid the bill for the birthday party.
