A TALENTED Evesham teenager is among the first to benefit from a tie-up between The De Montfort School (TDMS) and the Cotswold Athlete Support Scheme (CASS).

Ed Bragg, who plays cricket for the academy at Worcestershire CCC, recieved a cheque for £300 as part of the scheme which was revealed recently.

School chiefs have launched the relationship between CASS and Friends and the school which will see the scheme support youngsters between the ages of 12 and 18-years-old to achieve their sporting ambitions by sponsorship to help coaching and equipment expenses.

Ed is the first of a number of TDMS students who have joined the CASS programme and last week he received his cash from CASS representative Fiona Carter.

The talented cricketer hopes to rise through the ranks and take to the field for his country and said: “I am so grateful to CASS and Friends for receiving this support and very much looking forward to working with them.”

Headteacher Guy Nichols backed the link-up and said: “Ed is the first of our trail blazers and I am sure the support provided by CASS will prove to be a real boost for our talented sports people.”CASS and Friends is a registered charity and they are always looking for other donors and athletes to come on board.
