Easter advice to stay healthy

Evesham Editorial 19th Apr, 2019   0

DOCTORS are urging people to make sure they’re fully prepared for the Easter bank holiday weekend.

Some NHS services, like GP practices and dentists, will close on Thursday evening, April 18, and won’t re-open until Tuesday morning, April 23.

Doctors say many minor conditions such as coughs and colds can be managed with self-care, staying at home, resting and keeping hydrated.

Health chiefs say Accident and Emergency services are for life-threatening accidents and emergencies only and there are a number of other health services available to help people if they become injured or unwell.

People are being urged to make sure they know what medical services are available to them if they fall ill or become injured over the bank holiday weekend.

Because of the break, only certain pharmacies are open at certain times.

On Good Friday, Boots on the Evesham Retail Park is open from 8am to 8pm and Boots in Pershore is open from 9am to 5.30pm. Morrisons pharmacy in Evesham is also open from 10am to 4pm.

On Easter Monday, Boots on the Evesham Retail Park is open from 9am to 6pm and Morrisons pharmacy in Evesham is open from 10am to 4pm.

Prof Kiran Patel, from the Midlands NHS England and NHS Improvement, said: “Your local pharmacy can help you with more than you might think. “Pharmacists offer expert, confidential advice and treatment for many minor health problems.”

The Evesham Minor Injuries Unit is open as usual from 9am to 9pm everyday.

Patients are also reminded they can get advice on the free 24-hour-a-a-day, seven-days-a-week NHS 111 by visiting 111.nhs.uk or by calling 111.
