A MAN has been jailed for two years and four months after a hit and run in Evesham.
A 70-year-old woman was crossing Bridge Street with her partner and their two dogs when she was struck by the grey Ford Kuga on March 21.
The driver – 21-year-oldĀ Marius Barci – then failed to stop.
CCTV footage showed the car turning into Monks Walk before the driver was seen walking away from there onto Bridge Street.
He was then seen returning to his car moments before the collision. After failing to stop he was seen driving away, going through a red light.
The car was also spotted driving around Evesham.
At 6am on March 29, police executed a warrant where the suspect tried to flee from the address.
The man was sentenced for driving without insurance and for failing to stop after a road accident.
As well as the jail term, he was disqualified from driving for 38 months and must take an extended re-test until he passes.
Following the hearing, police thanked everyone who came forward with information and CCTV footage.
