Donations flood in after Cooper the cat passes away

A FUND-RAISING page in memory of Evesham’s own feline celebrity Cooper the Morrisons Cat has smashed its initial £100 target.

The page was set up by Ann-Marie Ward to raise cash for Avon Cat Rescue yesterday (Sunday) just hours after the sad news of Cooper’s death was confirmed.

The four-legged friend to many shoppers at the Davies Road store was hit by a vehicle on the busy Evesham road yesterday morning.

More than six times the original amount set has already been raised in memory of the famous feline who gave town shoppers even more reasons to shop at Morrisons.

From ‘meeting and greeting’ shoppers to keeping an eye on stock including boxes of chocolates and of course cat food, Cooper proved to be a ray of sunshine for many.

Writing on the Go Fund Me page, Ann-Marie said: “It won’t be the same going into Morrisons without him being there.

“I would like to raise some money in this cheeky, affectionate little boy’s memory. I know he is going to be missed by many people but especially by his mummy Juliette.”

In a message on Cooper’s own Facebook page, his family wrote: “RIP Cooper you were the best. Gone but never forgotten. We are heartbroken. Thanks for all his fuss and treats over the years xx REST IN PEACE SUPER COOPER XX”
