CARING members of Pershore and District Round Table presented the town’s foodbank with a £500 donation just weeks after the lifeline handed out more than two tonnes of food.
Rev Claire Lording thanked members for their generous contribution and revealed over Christmas the foodbank handed out 2.15tonnes of food to 74 clients which fed 249 people of whom 111 were children.
All four Pershore churches and other community volunteers run the foodbank which is open at St Andrew’s Parish Centre on Tuesdays from 11am to 1pm and Fridays from 1pm to 3pm.
In addition to the providing a lifeline to those most at need, the foodbank also funds two breakfast clubs in the town.
Donations of food, cleaning products and money are welcome at Pershore Abbey, ASDA, Co-op and St Andrew’s where a list of wanted items can also be found.
