Dogs Trust Evesham seeks volunteer doggy foster ‘pawrents’

Evesham Editorial 5th Oct, 2022   0

DOGS Trust Evesham is appealing for volunteer foster ‘pawrents’ for dogs in need as the charity receives a record number of calls from people looking to rehome their dogs.

The team are holding an event at the rehoming centre on Friday (October 7) so people who would love to have a dog in their life but can’t welcome a four-legged friend into their home permanently, can find out more about the Home From Home fostering scheme and what’s involved in being a doggy foster parent.

Co-ordinator of the Home from Home fostering scheme, Sarah Galvin, said:  “Over recent months, we have received a record number of calls from people needing to rehome their dogs in the face of the new cost of everyday living.

“We need to be there for the dogs who need us so we’re looking for dedicated foster carers who can offer immediate support and help out with the cuddles and a comfy sofa until they find their forever home.

Foster carers need to be over the age of 18, preferably have an adult only home and be around for most of the day. As the dogs will need to visit the rehoming centre to meet potential new owners, fosters need to have their own car and live within an hour’s journey of the centre.

The drop-in event will be held at Dogs Trust Evesham, 89 Pitchers Hill, Wickhamford WR11 7RT, between 2pm and 3.30pm. Refreshments will be provided.
