DISABLED Vale adults and youngsters were treated to a fashion extravaganza when a professional stylist visited to promote social inclusion and boost self-esteem.

Kate Uzzell from Styleability, a project aiming to make fashion accessible to young disabled adults, held a session at Freedom Day Centre in Badsey.

Sponsored by The Valley, the session was attended by regular attendees at the centre, as well as youngsters from Vale of Evesham School.

As well as a crash course in the latest fashions, centre users discovered how to adapt clothing to suit their needs, such as replacing buttons with velcro so those with fine motor skill difficulties can dress themselves.

Tracey Hemming, centre manager, said: “There were some great moments in the session and the confidence boost that clothing can give was immediately apparent.

“One lady who is normally painfully shy, not only dressed up, but also danced unprompted in front of an audience.”
