AN INSPIRATIONAL disabled Evesham man is one step closer to making his dream come true after he completed a test drive with a top racing car team.
Chris Carter, a father of two, was born with cerebral palsy and was told he would never be able to drive but so far this has not stopped him from making his dream of becoming a British Touring Car driver a reality.
The 35-year-old is hoping to secure a championship drive for next season and has even attracted the support of former Formula 1 champion Damon Hill.
However, he needs to raise £15,000 in sponsorship to have any chance of racing next year.
But determined to make sure he can prove he has the skills to race competitively, Chris completed a testing session at the Castle Combe circuit in Wiltshire last Sunday.
Speaking to the Observer, Chris said: “The day went really well and I had some good experience driving a left hand drive car on a new track around 10 other cars.
“The feedback I received was excellent and I showed that I have good technique and car control.
“In the coming weeks I shall be discussing what car would be best suited to me and negotiating a deal with a race team.
“Grant Motorsport and Antony Weeks have been amazing and great support at a crucial time in my race career.”
