Dementia week is packed full

Evesham Editorial 19th May, 2019   0

A PACKED programme of events is being lined up by members of Evesham Dementia Action Alliance during a themed week to raise awareness of the condition.

Several events are on the menu for those suffering with dementia and their families during the Dementia Action Week next week (May 20 to 25) and everyone is invited to join in.

The main event will be the Knees Up / Teas Up at the Boathouse at Evesham Rowing Club on Thursday (May 23) from 2pm to 4pm.

Residents are being invited to join organisers for a bit of fun, music, coffee or tea, cakes and a raffle. Entertainment will be provided by George with a variety of ‘Knees Up’ music and The Big Ben Banjo Band music.

It is an event organised for people living with dementia and their carers and anybody else who is interested. Admission is £1 and parking is free.

A fun, free event full of music is on offer when Singing for the Brain is held on Tuesday at two venues in the Vale. Pershore Library will play host to a session from 10.15am to 11.15am before a further chance to make music at Hampton Guide and Scout Hall from 11.15am to 12.45pm.

Afternoon tea will be served at a Dementia Friendly event next Friday (May 24) from 3pm to 4pm and guests can enjoy tea and cake whilst watching favourite sketches from Morecambe and Wise on a big screen.

All Saints Church will also be holding their tea service from 2pm to 3pm for tea, talk and spiritual refreshment.

The week of raising awareness will come to a close next Saturday (May 25) with a free Dementia Friends Information Session taking place from 2pm to 3pm at Evesham Library on Oat Street.

Croome Court will also have leaflets and support materials from the Alzheimer’s Society in their reception area during the week.
