AN UNSUNG Vale campaigner who launched a disco for those with learning disabilities was honoured with the Unpaid Carers award at the Great West Midlands Care Awards.
Tracey Hemming, the brains behind Freedom Day Centre in Badsey, picked up the honour at the regional part of the Great British Care Awards which honour those who demonstrate outstanding excellence within their field of work.
The kind-hearted campaigner opened the Freedom Disco in 2016 following the closure of a disco for people with learning disabilities which her son attended.
After raising cash to fund a bus to transport users free Tracey then decided to open the Freedom Day Centre in July 2017.
Her nomination for the award said: “Tracey fund-raises for everything at the centre and helps provide service users with great opportunists such a recent trip for a private tour of the Houses of Parliament.
“Tracey is a really inspirational woman who’s puts herself last and others first.”
