A CYCLIST has died and a woman has been arrested following a crash in Evesham yesterday (Wednesday).
The incident, involving a bike and a blue Fiat 500, happened at Enterprise Way, Vale Park, around 5.08pm.
West Midlands Ambulance Service sent two ambulances, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Strensham to the scene.
Upon arrival, ambulance staff discovered the rider had life-threatening injuries in a critical condition.
Crews quickly began administering advanced life support to the 47-year-old man but sadly, despite everyone’s best efforts, it became apparent nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed deceased at the scene. The car driver did not require treatment.
A 24-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving. She has since been released under investigation.
Det Sgt Liam Bennett from West Mercia Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said “Our thoughts are with the man’s family following last night’s collision.
“We are carrying out a number of enquires and are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the collision, who may have seen either the bicycle or the car beforehand, or anyone who may have CCTV or dashcam footage.”
