Cyber chief Nicola awarded MBE in New Year's Honours

A CHAMPION of women working in cyber security is among those honoured in Her Majesty the Queen’s New Year’s Honours List.

Nicola Whiting, Chief Strategy Officer at Titania on Barbourne Road in Worcester has been awarded an MBE for services to International Trade and Diversity.

The respected businesswoman boasts a strong history of working in cyber security and has led the Worcester firm from an ambitious start-up to a multi-million-pound award-winning company in less than a decade.

An advocate for autism and women in cyber, she provides government-level advice on diversity and is Worcestershire’s Commissioner for the UK Cyber Science and Innovation Audit.




Worcester-based Dr Dave Hewett, co-founder of Intensive Interaction receives an OBE for services to people with special educational needs and disabilities.

Overall, 1,097 people are on the list issued by the Cabinet Office, with 51 per cent being women and 72 per cent of the gongs being given for work in the community.


Singer Olivia Newton-John has been made a dame in a New Year Honours list that recognises four members of England’s Cricket World Cup winning squad.

All-rounder Ben Stokes, man of the match in the victory against New Zealand at Lord’s in July, becomes an OBE, while team captain Eoin Morgan receives the higher CBE award.

Wicketkeeper Jos Buttler and batsman and England Test captain Joe Root become MBEs, and coach Trevor Bayliss an OBE

Sir Elton John, knighted in 1998, joins the elite companions of honour, an order restricted to a maximum 65 members, for services to music and charity.
