HUNDREDS of people got into the festive spirit over the weekend when Evesham’s Christmas Lights were switched on.
The fun started at 11am on Saturday (November 22) with a Saturday Charter Market in High Street and Bridge Street which included a Christmas Craft and Gift Fayre in Evesham Town Hall.
Christmas Carols, live music and entertainment in the area and on stage was held throughout the day.
Then later in the afternoon special guests Father Christmas and his Reindeer paraded up Bridge Street into Market Place where they meet excited youngsters.
Then Father Christmas was joined by Postman Pat and Mayor of Evesham Coun Charlie Homer led the countdown to the Christmas Lights switch-on which was followed by a fireworks extravaganza.
The evening was completed with a Seasonal Christmas sing-a-long.
* Tomorrow (Saturday) will see the Christmas Lights switch-on take place in Pershore with an afternoon full of events followed by the turning on of the lights. The fun-filled event takes place from 2pm.
