Crime on the agenda at Neighbourhood Watch event

COUNCILLORS, police officers and Neighbourhood Watch representatives came together to offer support to Evesham South residents concerned about crime in their area.

Residents had the chance to express their concerns and common themes included an increase in burglaries in the area and instances of anti-social behaviour.

Coun Ed Cohen, district councillor for Evesham South Ward, said: “Residents expressed their concerns about an increase in burglaries and they would like to see more done about tackling this. In addition, there were concerns over anti-social behaviour.”

He continued: “We’ll be working with residents to support them in setting up a Neighbourhood Watch and continue to work with the police on tackling wider issues. We’d like to thank those who took the time to come down and speak to us – we really appreciate it and we’ll do all we can to support them.”

Active Neighbourhood Watch Schemes in West Mercia report an 80 per cent reduction in crime where they’re in operation so offer a proven way to support other agencies in tackling crime.
