ANYONE in the Vale who is missing a loved one during the festive season is invited to join The Vale Crematorium’s Christmas carol and memorial service for some comfort and company.
Open to all, the event will feature music from a live soloist, and visitors will be able to see an image of their loved one displayed as part of a memorial slideshow.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to write personal messages onto tags for hanging on the crematorium’s Christmas tree, light commemorative candles, and use the site’s white memorial post box for ‘sending’ a Christmas card to their loved one.
If people cannot attend the evening service on Tuesday, December 6, from 6pm, it will be streamed live online and can be viewed for several weeks afterwards. No booking necessary.
Manager Catherine Linfield said: “Our Christmas service is open to anyone and everyone, regardless of whether you’ve ever attended a funeral here before or have a memorial to a loved one in our grounds.
“We know that during this time of year, the loss of a loved one can be particularly poignant. Our service is a meaningful way to bring people together in the lead up to Christmas, and finding comfort in remembering their loved one in company with others.”
People who would like an image of their loved one to be included as part of the slideshow during the service should email a digital photo to [email protected] by no later than Tuesday, December 2, using the heading ‘Christmas Service Slideshow’.
Anyone unable to attend in person but would like to watch the service online can do so by visiting https://christmas.obitus.com and entering the username ‘TheVale’ and the password ‘robin’.
The event will be available to see on the ‘watch again’ service using the same link and log-in details as above, for 28 days from Thursday, December 11
