A NEW nursery to tackle a growing demand for places in Evesham has finally been unveiled after vital county council funding.

Bengeworth CE Academy is now home to a new 60-place nursery, which was recently opened by Mid Worcestershire MP, Nigel Huddleston.

Worcestershire County Council provided £545,000 of grant funding to support the £715,000 development.

The purpose-built extension to the school, designed by architect Vanessa Anderson from Herlig Architects Ltd, and built by Neil R Shipley and Co Ltd, has provided the school with two nursery classrooms with cloakrooms, changing facilities and office space.

The facilities and learning opportunities are designed to inspire children’s curiosity, awe and wonder.

Bengeworth Trust CEO David Coaché said: “Staff and the local community have moved heaven and earth to ensure families could benefit from high quality Early Years provision within Bengeworth CE Academy.

“Investment in local schools and their facilities is an investment in the future of Evesham, and our Trust is incredibly grateful for the financial contributions made by supporters of this project to realise an ambitious vision for children’s education.”

Councillor Kyle Daisley, chairman of Worcestershire County Council was also in attendance to mark the opening.

Councillor David Chambers, cabinet member for education, at Worcestershire County Council said: “The new facilities at the school are fantastic, and I look forward to hearing how the children use them to develop, learn and grow.

“Facilities such as these, which focus on developing a child’s learning and key skills alongside the dedication of the staff ensures the children have a positive start in their education.

“Schools are a fundamental part of a community and it’s pleasing to see another excellent educational facility being built and ready for children to use in our county.”
