Countdown to Carnival starts with programme comp

Evesham Editorial 16th Feb, 2019   0

CREATIVE youngsters across the Vale are being urged to get in the frame for success as part of this year’s Pershore Carnival programme design competition.

The popular competition kicked off last Saturday (February 9) and will run until February 23 and challenges local children to design a front cover for this year’s programme based on the theme of Fairytales.

Children can get an application form and complete their design at Pershore Library or take it home to complete and return to the library before the deadline.

Classic or modern, from books, film or TV, the range of fairytales is endless. The winner will see their own artwork in print distributed throughout the town.

Carnival chairman Colin Shepherd said: “We are very lucky to have the library in Pershore and very grateful to the team there for their support of this competition.

“With half-term looming it is an ideal time for local children to visit the library and get involved with Carnival.”

Organisers are still on the lookout for groups to take part in the procession for this year’s carnival which takes place on Monday, May 27.

Entrants can be groups or individuals either on foot or motorised.

Winning entrants are presented with cups on the day and certificates are awarded to all who take part.

Visit www.pershorecarnival.co.uk and click on entry forms for more.

As usual there will be a collection during the parade and organisers want to hear from local organisations who feel they should benefit. Visit the website or e-mail [email protected] for more.

Aspiring stallholders have until April 30 to book their place. E-mail [email protected] for more.

Organisers have also revealed a change of venue for the annual quiz night in aid of the carnival on March 9.

The event will now take place at Pershore Town Football Club from 7.30pm.
