Countdown on to this year's Fladbury Walkabout

Rob George 30th Jun, 2023   0

ENGLISH country gardens will be the theme of this year’s Fladbury Walkabout which takes place this weekend.

One of the highlights on the Vale’s event calendar will take place on Saturday and Sunday (July 1 and 2) and has been held for more than 40 years.

This year, the theme of the flower festival is English Country Gardens and eco-sustainability.

Visitors pay to park at either end of the village and are given a map of the gardens that are open for viewing, some of which will be offering plants for sale.

The church will be open with flower displays along with tower tours in the church promoting the history and practice of bellringing.

One of the churchwardens at Fladbury Church, Fran Summerfield, said: “The Fladbury walkabout is always a special event in the life of the village and a major fundraiser for St John the Baptist Church.

“It is great this year people will be able to find out more about our bellringing team as the first ever Walkabout was held to raise funds for repairs to the church bells”

The Fladbury Walkabout started in 1970 and initially took place every two years before becoming an annual event.

All are welcome to come and see many of the fabulous gardens in the village over the weekend.
