THE COUNTDOWN to Christmas begun in earnest in Evesham and Pershore as the town’s Christmas lights were switched on.
Santa and his reindeer visited both towns while carol singing, craft stalls, fireworks and live music added to the Christmas atmosphere.
Crowds flocked to the events to join in the festive celebrations, which featured guest appearances from Disney’s Frozen characters Elsa and Olaf in Evesham.
After mingling with shoppers in the Riverside Centre and the High Street, the popular characters took to the Market Square to turn the lights on at 5.30pm.
A Christmas workshop, face painter and balloon modeller and a Santa’s Grotto were also among the events on offer for shoppers both young and old.
As well as the Christmas lights switch-on in Pershore, the town’s Acorns Children’s Hospice shop in Pershore held a Georgian Christmas Fayre with newly donated books and clothes to be displayed at the front of the shop.
The day, which ran from the early afternoon into the evening, saw several period attractions and demonstrations that will fill the High Street, culminating in a fireworks display.
