Council staff get all fired up

MEMBERS of Wychavon District Council have added ‘blues and twos’ to their nine to five routine and become retained firefighters.

Deputy Managing Director Vic Allison and planning officer David Addison both made it through the gruelling tests to be selected for training and then earlier this year undertook the core skills course.

Both are now retained firefighters at Pershore Fire Station alongside another familiar face in Alan Green who has combined his Wychavon duties with life as a firefighters since 1998.

After being approached by the service, 20 Wychavon staff expressed an interest and five people took part in the tests at Droitwich training centre.

Vic said: “We had a phenomenal response and I was really keen that we support the station – as it is essential to the town and surrounding areas. I was also up for giving it a go myself.”

Any employer or individuals within five minutes of their local fire station are asked to call 01905 368343 for more information.
