Could you take the leap for Sight Concern?

Evesham Editorial 27th Jan, 2020   0

SIGHT Concern Worcestershire is asking people to take a leap into the unknown – by doing a sponsored parachute jump for the charity.

Part of their 2020 Focus on Sight initiative, if that wasn’t enough, it’s offering three types of jump to those keen to take part.

There’s ‘Accelerated FreeFall’, where people can experience the thrill of skydiving solo from up to 12,000ft; a ‘Tandem Skydive’ from 10,000ft attached to a professional instructor; and a ‘Static Line’ jump which is performed solo from up to 3,000ft.

Participants can also jump from any one of more than 20 British Parachute Association-approved airfields across the UK at a date of their choice.

No experience is necessary, as all training is given – and if participants can raise upwards of £360 upwards (depending on the type of jump), it will be free.

The first person to take the plunge is Ana Karolina Lu, who works for Dolphin Computer Access in Worcester, creators of specialist software enabling people with sight loss and dyslexia to use and create digital content.

“For as long as I can remember I’ve always wanted to do a parachute jump,” she said.

“Working for Dolphin and meeting so many colleagues and customers has made me realise how important supporting people with sight loss is, so when the opportunity to jump for Sight Concern came up, I went for it!”
