A SOCIAL media bid to find hosts in Evesham and the surrounding area for Ukranian refugees left stranded in a hostel in Spain when Russia launched its invasion has been launched

Emma Nishigaki has made the plea on the Spotted in Evesham page and revealed she was in contact with the Spanish site.

The refugees were initially on holiday in Spain when war broke out and now face an uncertain future as their city has been destroyed by Russia’s attack.

And now Emma is on the hunt for potential hosts in Evesham and has established a Facebook group ‘Evesham and Area welcomes Ukranian Refugees’.

Anyone who may be considering opening their homes in the local area is asked to make contact with Emma and the group.

“There is a group who want to come together, the reason they wish to come to the UK is they are fluent English speakers,” she said.

Anyone interest must be registered for the Government’s Homes for Ukraine scheme where they will be paid £350 a month.

Offers of employment can also be made to Emma, most of the people stranded are degree educated but are prepared to undertake any work.

The group includes Ukranian men who are eligible for the scheme as they were out of the country when war began.
