Could you Bee the star of Bishampton Summer Fete?

VALE youngsters are being invited to make their best attempt at creating a ‘Brilliant Bee’ using recycled materials for this year’s Bish Bosh Bash Summer Fete on June 29.

Working with local artist Carolyn Morris, students from local first schools, including Flyford Flavell and Church Lench, will be starting work on the project after the Easter holidays, but the competition is open to any local children.

The competition will fall into three age groups – six years and under, seven to eight years old and nine to 11 years old.

Bishampton’s annual Summer Fete at St. James’ Church previously featured a painting competition which has proved extremely popular but this year organisers decided to ring the changes.

Children will be using materials such as milk bottles and packaging materials to produce their version of a Brilliant Bee with prizes for the winning entries.

Organsier Carolyn Morris said: “We thought this would be a good challenge to do, knowing what emphasis there is on doing our best for bees, and also on recycling materials.

“The children are looking forward to getting their creative heads on so we are anticipating some interesting results.”

The entries should:-

  • ‘Bee’ environment friendly (made of recycled materials)
  • Bee named with a brilliant bee name!
  • Bee able to fly around (sticks available with entry forms)
  • Bee fantastic!
