Concert hits all the right notes to kick off summer season

VALE Harmony’s A Cappella Fellas hit all the right notes to kick off the summer music programme at Christ Church in Malvern.

The Pershore-based male singers performed 13 entertaining songs from their repertoire including hits from the Beatles, Gene Pitney, The Drifters and many more. Concertgoers left with the sound of ‘Is This the Way to Amarillo’ still ringing in their ears.

The evening was a particularly delightful reunion for Sheila Collis. In the 1990s Vale Harmony performed in the garden of her home in Shelsley Beauchamp where she held a series of festivals known as “Glyndebourne in the Shelsleys”.

Thirty years on, Sheila invited the chorus to Christ Church for last weekend’s concert and said the singers were as good as ever.

“It was a joy to hear them again singing their beautiful harmonious music,” said Sheila.

“The audience were very appreciative too and gave Vale Harmony an excellent reception.”

Coming up at Christ Church on September 24 will be the Volante Strings.

The Malvern Big Band, the Pax Singers and Michael Bochmann and the Orchestra Pro Anima are also lined up to appear later in the year.
