Community Fund helps donate £60,000 to good causes in Worcestershire

MORE than £60,000 has been raised for good causes thanks to a Worcestershire estate agents’ community fund.

Nicol & Co, with offices in Droitwich, Worcester and Malvern, began its Community Fund in 2021 to donate £100 to a seller’s choice of school, charity or local community organisation for every property it sells.

The scheme raised £12,000 in its first year alone, leading to the establishment of the Nicol & Co Community Fund.

Another £25,000 was raised in 2022 before its total figure surpassed £50,000 in 2023. Now the first four months of 2024 has already seen the fund’s total donations break £60,000.

Matt Nicol, managing director of Nicol & Co, said: “Our Community Fund continues to surpass all our expectations and I’m so proud that we’ve already supported 17 charities and community organisations so far in 2024.

“Yes, Nicol & Co exists to help people buy and sell homes, but I’ve always wanted to make sure the company is rooted in the community we serve in other ways, making a positive difference wherever possible.”

So far, in 2024, St Richard’s Hospice in Worcester has received £2,000, Acorns Children’s Hospice in Worcester has received £900 and Grace Kelly Childhood Cancer Trust has received £400.

Worcestershire Animal Rescue and West Mercia Search and Rescue have both received £300 each and both Droitwich and Worcester Foodbank’s have received £200 each.

Other charities who have gained a £100 donation include Malvern Foodbank, Meningitis Now, Worcester Buddhist Charity, Friends of Colwall School, Good Soil Project and many more.

Mr Nicol added: “What’s unique about this fund is that it exists for our customers to nominate who they want to benefit as a result of our successful sales of their properties.

“This means we are constantly helping local schools, projects and initiatives as part of our day-to-day job, which is a great reason to go to work every morning for me and all our staff.”

As well as sellers’ nominations, some vendors leave the choice to Nicol & Co and it welcomes applications for support from less well-known local organisations.
