Comic stands up to his critics as show returns to Evesham

CONTROVERSIAL comic Jim Davidson will return to Evesham a year on from a failed attempt to ban him from performing in the town.

The former New Faces star who later become synonymous with shows such as Big Break and the Generation Game will return to Evesham Town Hall with two shows on February 19.

His new show ‘Not Yet Cancelled’ will come just over a year after the furore over the comedian’s material saw a debate tabled for a meeting of Evesham Town Council which questioned whether the comedian should be allowed to perform.

A flurry of headlines ensued but town councillors offered no opinion on the matter.

Fans can watch Davidson at Evesham Town Hall on Sunday, February 19 in two shows at 5pm or 8pm.

The comedian has already warned fans he is preparing for an outrageous show with rip-roaring grown-up comedy.

“Despite attempts by the woke minority to cancel one of Britain’s greatest comedians, Jim Davidson OBE continues to play to capacity audiences year after year,” an advert for the show said.

“The silenced majority continue to show their support for master funny man, demonstrating that the battle of freedom of speech has not yet been lost!

“In this brand-new show for 2023, Jim invites you to join him for another evening of rip-roaring grown-up comedy and join the struggle against the few who try to divide us and impose their radical sensibilities on our culture.”

Davidson, who was the winner of 2014’s Celebrity Big Brother, performed two shows at the town council in March as part of his ‘Unlocked’ tour, with hundreds of tickets being sold by event organisers Evesham Live.

Comedy programmer for Evesham Live! Keith Norledge said: “We’re pleased to say Jim’s coming back to Evesham after two sell out shows last year.

“We’ve managed to get Jim to do two shows again, both on the same day at 5pm and 8pm.

“Being one of the smallest venues in the country, the shows will again be an up-close chance to see one of the UK’s most famous comics own the circuit,” he added.

Tickets priced at £25 are on sale online at www.eveshamlive.co.uk or in person from The Almonry. Guests must be 16 years old or above to buy a ticket.
