A FLADBURY campaigner has taken his fight to raise awareness of climate change to the heart of Government during a meeting with Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt.

David Train met Mr Hunt at the Foreign Office last week and presented two Paddles for Life to be signed and a copy of a painting of a “Vision for Britain” by Joe Walton the well-known Fladbury artist.

Speaking to the Observer, Mr Train said the painting expresses the idea he and campaigners have developed in the Vale to bring all the world on board to tackle the climate change problem.

“Whilst here in the Vale and Worcestershire we have been working for two decades on a set of soft power tools to get the message to the world that we must all work together to solve the climate change problem, the United Nations report of last week vividly brought it to the world’s attention,” he said.

“We have only twelve years to do so to avoid disaster. Every idea has its time and place and it seems that the time has come for the ideas from the Vale to play their part.”

The first Paddle for Life is for Paris. It has been signed by Prime Minister Theresa May, leader of the opposition Jeremy Corbyn, home secretary Sajid Javid, “Mid Worcestershire MP Nigel Huddleston, the Mayor of Evesham Coun Mark Goodge and many other leaders.

“We now hope to have the paddle and all the Vale ideas presented to President Emmanuel Macron by President Grybauskaite of Lithuania, the first and only head of state to sign a Paddle for Life.” Mr Train said.

The painting shows President Grybauskaite setting out on a voyage to take the ideas to President Macron who has a vision of ‘Making Our Planet Great Again’.

“We hope he will use the ideas to achieve his vision on the way to the Paris Olympics in 2024 and help him to embed the Paris Climate Change agreement in world culture,” the campaigner said.

“The second paddle is for Los Angeles and we will have another painting created to inspire President Trump to change course and take part in the Paris Agreement.

“It may seem an Olympian task but we believe the people of the Britain, using the ideas can do it, and in by working together to bring the world on board can bring Britain back together after Brexit.”
