A CHRISTMAS message from Coun Bob Gillmor, Mayor of Pershore
THE CHRISTMAS trees are up and decorated, the lights are on and windows glow as we look forward to the festive season.
My consort Sandra and I have been privileged to attend enjoyable concerts and carol services around the county including Pershore High School’s in the delightful setting of the town’s Abbey.
Each of the services has reminded me of the real and special meaning of Christmas – the celebration of Jesus’ birth over two thousand years ago.
We naturally think of family and friends at this time, but must take a moment to remember those no longer with us and think of those less fortunate than ourselves, whether in difficult times at home or in troubled parts of the world.
I cannot miss the opportunity for a reminder of the Town Council’s latest project to install a new stained glass window at the Cemetery Chapel which we hope to install for the centenary of the end of the First World War in 2018.
Fund-raising has already started and the Town Hall has details about how you can help.
It only remains for me to wish you all a Merry Christmas and peace, health and happiness in 2017. Please, not another mince pie!
