Christian values are illustrated through superb artwork

TALENTED local artist Nikki Moulton spent time with youngsters from Bengeworth CE Academy over the last year to help them represent their school Christian Values through colourful and powerful imagery, captured in two glass artwork displays.

The positive, brightly-coloured displays capture the nature of these words, carefully chosen by the pupils themselves, which they live out in their behaviours and explore through lessons during school every single day.

Headteacher David Coaché, said: “We articulate Respect, Perseverance, Friendship, Trust, Responsibility and Forgiveness through our actions towards each other.

“It is the behaviour of staff and pupils, continually modelling these values, that creates such an exceptional ethos and culture at Bengeworth.”

“But capturing something so powerful and conveying it in the right way is a challenging task.”

Each value is represented by a distinctive image, which can be easily recognised by the children and each setting has its own unique display, reflecting the differing age ranges at each setting.

With a reference to the overall value of ‘Love’, chosen by the children to convey their school’s Christian character, these works of art are unavoidably eye-catching and on permanent display in the foyer of each setting.

Artist Nikki said: “I used existing glass partitions so that the bright, positive nature of the work would be reflected in the translucent colours used on the glass.

“The children helped to create the paintings so that the end result is very much in keeping with a school setting, where children are the main contributors to the positive culture of the school.”
