Choose your heroes in the community

Rob George 16th Jan, 2020

INSPIRATIONAL people from Evesham and Pershore who have gone above and beyond for their community will be celebrated at an awards ceremony.

The annual Community Recognition Awards will recognise ‘community heroes’ who, in 2019, have volunteered, coached or helped others and made the district a better place to live and work.

Wychavon District Council’s Community Development team is looking for inspirational stories from people of all ages who have helped to improve their neighbourhood, club, society or community in the past year.

Among the categories on offer are the young volunteer award, the volunteer honour, an arts recognition prize and a sporting hero award.

Honours for community projects and groups also feature, alongside the popular Enabling Healthy Lives award and the Lifetime Achievement award.

Coun Rob Adams, portfolio holder for Community Engagement, Culture and Sport, said: “The Community Recognition Awards are a great opportunity to recognise the hard work of some of the district’s community heroes.

“From volunteering and helping the community to achievements in sport or arts, we want to hear their story.

“The contributions from these people help to make Wychavon a better place to live and work.”

Nominees will be invited to the awards ceremony on March 5 at Peopleton Village Hall. The deadline for entries is January 31.
