AN EVESHAM man has been jailed for eight years for historical indecent assaults on two children.
Alan Wilson, 69, was sentenced at Carlisle Crown Court last Friday (November 23) for three counts of indecent assault on a girl under the age of 14 and one count of indecency on a child.
Wilson, of Coombefield Road, Wickhamford was brought to justice following a report made in early 2017 about incidents which took place in the 1970s. He pleaded guilty to the four offences at an earlier hearing.
Speaking after the Wilson was jailed, Det Con Sarah Edgar of North Cumbria Crime and Safeguarding Team, said:
“Alan Wilson is a sexual predator who targeted children to assault for his own gratification.
“He has rightly been brought to justice for crimes that occurred decades ago.
“I would like to praise the bravery of the victims in this case for disclosing what happened to them and for their strength they have shown throughout our investigation.
“I would like to reiterate our commitment to investigating thoroughly any reports of sexual abuse – whether recent or non-recent.
“I would urge anyone who has been subject to offences of this nature to come forward. You will be listened to.”
