EVESHAM Chess Club will hold its launch night on Monday, April 20 from 7pm to 8.45pm at Wallace House Community Centre.
The club aims to bring together local players, from complete beginners to experienced competitors and provide opportunities for social, casual, competitive, and junior chess. Organisers hope to build a strong and inclusive chess community within the town.
Following the launch, sessions will run every Monday evening as part of an initial trial period through to June, with plans to expand activities based on interest.
Future ambitions include regular club nights, junior sessions, and rated competitive play.
The launch sessions will be free to attend during the initial period, helping to encourage participation and support the development of the club.
People interested in attending or learning more are encouraged to get in touch or simply come along on the evening. Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult.
Thanks to the backing of the English Chess Federation’s Grassroots Programme, the group has 10 brand new chess sets, four digital chess clocks and a selection of chess books to help players improve their game.
Organiser Paul Serafini said: “We’re incredibly grateful for this support. It has given the club a fantastic foundation and ensures we can provide a welcoming and well-equipped environment for players of all abilities.”
