CHARITY chiefs at a much-loved Evesham service have appealed to local residents who may be struggling with their mental health to seek support.
Volunteers at Evesham and District Mental Health Support Service (EDMHSS) spoke out to mark World Suicide Prevention Day today (Thursday) in a bid to encourage people to talk about their struggles.
The charity has been inundated during the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic with local people needing support.
Despite being unable to reopen fully because of ongoing restrictions, EDMHSS has opened up a helpline seven days a week from 9am to 9pm thanks to donations from the National Lottery, Worcestershire Community Foundation and Tesco.
“We have varying degrees of people ringing our helpline who feel lost and alone and feel they should not be a burden to their loved ones,” a spokeswoman said.
“Mental health issues like depression or anxiety can be a very lonely experience.
“Family, friends and colleagues may not really understand. It can be hard for someone to explain to them how they are feeling .
“People may be struggling to find the right help and EDMHSS can and have supported them
