Charity duo say on your bike to cancer

A CARING Offenham duo will be saddling up in the fight against breast, ovarian and cervical cancer as part of the ninth annual Women v Cancer challenge.

Friends Claire Allen and Claire Penny will be riding from London to Paris over three days for the challenge which raises cash for Breast Cancer Care, Ovarian Cancer Action and Jo’s Cervical Cancer trust.

Previous Women v Cancer cycle challenges in Kenya, India, Cuba, China, Africa, Vietnam and Cambodia ,the UK, and Brazil have raised more than £9million for the three charities.

Women of all ages and abilities will be pedalling for the cause in September which will see the group cover more than 240 miles over the three days, raising a miniumum of £1,600 each.

The duo said: “The ride will take in the beautiful sights of southern England and Northern France, it will be a journey full of fun, friendship and incredible support for women to come together to challenge themselves for a great cause.”

They have already secured support from Evesham Self Drive, Perducam, Chapmans Opticians, Print Revolution and Tesco Stores and would love to hear from any resident willing to dig deep to make a contribution.

A Mother’s Day afternoon tea on Saturday, March 10 from 3pm to 5pm at Offenham Village Hall is the latest fund-raiser from the pair
