A CHARITY cricket match held last Sunday (June 22) at Bretforton Cricket Club in memory of a former player has raised more than £4,000 to build classrooms in Africa.
The friendly T20 game between Bretforton and Keele University Cricket Club in honour of Laurence Chinn-Brown who tragically died from a brain hemorrhage four years ago aged 22.
Laurence played cricket for Bretforton as a junior and was a member of the Keele University cricket team while a student there studying for a Law degree.

This year’s match was the fourth to date with Keele winning by 13 runs in a thrilling game. The series is now two wins a piece so a desider has already been booked for next year.
All monies raised are being donated to Project 3580 a charity set up by Neil Morland a teacher at Chipping Campden High School where Laurence was a pupil.
It will be used to build new classrooms in the refugee camp in Sierra Leone which is supported by Project 3580.
Stuart Brown, Laurence’s dad said: “A huge thank-you to all who helped make such a great day, which would have been Laurence’s 26th birthday.”
Donations from a charity auction, barbeque, refreshments and raffle also helped fill the coffers.
