BOOKWORMS across Evesham and Pershore dressed up as their favourite fictional characters as part of World Book Day.

The annual event took place last Thursday (March 5) and saw Stormtroopers, Robin Hood and Captain Hook join lessons at schools across both towns.

Among the schools taking part were the creative students at Pershore High School who came up with a variety of outfits.

Young bookworms at Bengeworth Academy celebrated the day in style with spiders, Mary Poppins and Captain Underpants taking to the catwalk.

Pupils in each year group were rewarded for their creativity with book vouchers after they were named the best dressed characters in their respective classes.

Staff and students at Harvington CE First and Nursery School dressed up as their favourite book characters.

The day started with a grand parade before the children created their own books and shared stories with their friends from

different classes.

Even headteacher, Helen Fishbourne, dressed up as her favourite character, the frog from the Room on the Broom.
