Change for the better

INKBERROW bowlers are celebrating an £18,000 expansion at their Sands Road headquarters.

Additional changing rooms have been opened which give the lawn-bowls club separate facilities for both home and away teams.

The new building is in the same style as the existing changing rooms and was funded by a grant from Wychavon District Council.

Club president David Willis said: “This is a significant boost to our facilities which already include a well-equipped sports pavilion with its own bar and kitchen.”

The grant from Wychavon was from money directed for community projects paid to the council by the developer of 100 new homes in Inkberrow.

Other money from the same fund is being granted to the village football, cricket and tennis clubs.

Inkberrow Bowls Club runs mixed teams in two evening leagues and also plays 30 friendly matches each summer.

The bowling green opens for the season this Sunday, April 14.

“New members are always welcome and you don’t have to be an experienced bowler. We give coaching to newcomers,” said Mr Willis.
