STARTUPS and aspiring entrepreneurs interested in starting a business are being encouraged to attend a free event organised by Worcestershire County Council.

As part of Global Entrepreneurship Week, a campaign dedicated to promoting entrepreneurship and supporting startups, the Council’s Enterprising Worcestershire Team is running a free event.

‘Starting a business and building its future’ is a vibrant event being held on Monday (November 13) at The Hive, from 9.30am to 1pm and is designed to support early startups and inspire budding entrepreneurs.

The event hosted by Peter Hill, BBC’s Dragons Den winner, is promised to inspire attendees with local success stories and provide valuable insight into developing a winning pitch, creativity for early-stage businesses, market research strategies, positioning and will explore the importance of coaching.

Coun Marc Bayliss, cabinet member for Economy, Infrastructure and Skills, said: “I am thrilled we are taking part in this global initiative. We recognise the critical role entrepreneurs play in driving economic growth and societal progress.

“The event is an excellent taster into the support the Enterprising Worcestershire programme can offer and is the perfect opportunity for participants to gain invaluable insight, guidance, and connections.”

Peter will provide an energetic and interactive session showcasing how to successfully pitch your idea. Other confirmed speakers include Real World Consultancy, Rock Solid Consulting, The University of Worcester Business School, Business Intellectual Property Centre Worcestershire, and two local businesses will share their inspirational success stories.

In addition to holding an event, the council will launch a social media campaign in a bid to inspire future entrepreneurs and shed light on the range of support available to pre-start and early-stage businesses through its Enterprising Worcestershire Programme.

The programme offers a two-day Start-It Business Masterclass for aspiring entrepreneurs, yet to start their venture, and up to 10 hours of flexible one-to-one coaching for early-stage businesses trading up to three years. The programme is part-funded by the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and Worcestershire County Council, delivered on behalf of Worcestershire Districts.
